Hospitals and Town Health

Healthcare was an important aspect of the medieval era, bestowing great prestige upon the monks and others taking upon themselves to tend to the inform and sick. Once in a while a patient would even regain their health!

A shiny new hospital, ready to receive and potentially heal those in need, rich as well as poor.

Like other prestige buildings, the hospital grows the prestige of the owner, both upon completed construction and when it operates.

What’s new here, is that the hospital also outputs health points, which improves the overall health of the town.

Town growth

By reducing the rate people die at (however slightly), a healthy town earns a higher rate of population growth, providing another lever to pull for wealthy patricians trying to grow their town’s labour pool.

Try it out!

Head over to Mercatorio to experience the warm fuzzy feeling of prestige and legacy that comes from funding, building and operating a medieval hospital for yourself!
