Mercatorio Season 6

Season 6 of the medieval economy simulator Mercatorio starts on January 1st and will include new buildings, new products and new production methods. Some premium products were showcased in the previous season but now in Season 6 there will be more of them and they will have more impact on the game.

The focus on attachment buildings that offload their host buildings continues, and all remaining multi-output production methods will now delegate the secondary output to an attachment to allow more flexible control.

Product updates

  • Paper and Books are added. Both are considered luxury products that gives prestige when consumed.
  • More premium products are added and the impact of premium products is boosted. There will now be a total of 11 premium commodity products as well as a Premium Cog with improved range, capacity and speed compared to regular Cogs.

Building updates

  • Several new attachment buildings: Seedhouse (handles rippling of flax to extract the grains at Retting Pit), Woodshed (collects branches for firewood from Logging Camp or Hunting Lodge), Slab yard (collects slabs and off-cuttings from the Sawmill and turns it into firewood), Honey house (extracts Honey from the Apiary’s honeycombs leaving the Apiary to focus on extracting the Wax), and Cupel Furnace (extracts trace Silver from the ores processed at the Smeltery).
  • A new hybrid prestige and production building, the Monastery, inscribes religious books while also generating prestige.
  • The Raghouse extracts the fibers from old cloth rags and produces Paper.
  • The Iron Camp, Gold Camp and Guard Camp can now be upgraded (promoted) to Iron Mine, Gold Mine and Guardhouse respectively. Any expansions need to be removed before promotion.

Commoners

  • Increased commoners population growth from fulfilled sustenance and from good health.
  • Growth from town prestige simplified and reduced.

Prestige bonuses and other balancing updates

  • Prestige bonuses to management and tenant caps are spread out into smaller and more frequent batches, and reduced at high levels of prestige.
  • Cost of town district expansion is reduced by 50%.
  • Starting funds reduced from 500d to 400d, while the earnings from initial town contracts is boosted.
  • The concept of product tiers is completely removed.
